How To Thrive As A Stay At Home Mom

Right now people are being told to stay home. Schools are closed, so the kids are stuck at home too. Many of you may have never thought you would be a Stay at Home Mom. I love being a stay at home mom, but it’s not for everyone, especially for those of you who enjoy working outside the home.

Here are some tips and resources to help you survive life as a stay at home mom during quarantine.

Stay at home mom

Get Healthy

To reduce your risk of getting sick or going crazy the best thing you can do is to take care of your health. Take multivitamins everyday to make sure you are getting all the nutrients that you are missing from your diet.

Eat as healthy as you can. Increase your intake of fruits & vegetables and decrease you intake of salt, sugar, and unhealthy fats. Drink lots of water and add lemon to it if you prefer.

Meal planning and prepping can help you save time while keeping you busy. If you have older kids let them help you.

Find a good chiropractor. According to a study by Ronald Pero, Ph.D. Neurologically-based chiropractic care is proven to boost your immune competence up to 400%! We recently found an amazing chiropractor and I feel like I have so much more energy now.

Be Active

Exercising can reduce your risk of getting sick and can also help with any anxiety or depression you may be experiencing.

There are many ways to fit exercise into your schedule. You can go for a walk, workout to youtube videos, ride a bike, dance to upbeat music while you’re cleaning your house, or even play chase with your kids around in the backyard.

Stay Calm

After going through postpartum anxiety, I learned so many ways to overcome anxiety without medication.

If you have anxiety and you feel your heart racing take deep breaths and tell yourself that you are ok. Worrying about what could happen is a waste of time. Worrying will not change the outcome it will only make your situatuion worse and possibly cause a anxiety or panic attack.

Don’t watch the news! Don’t go on Facebook other than to check in with friends and family or to get help from Mom Facebook groups.

What About The Kids

The best part of quarantine is that we get to spend quality time with our families. With that being said it can be overwhelming and you can lose your sanity.

Being a work from home mom I have found many ways to keep my daughter busy (without screens). Most of the time she is content playing with her age appropriate toys. Right now she is 18 months old and loves doing puzzles and reading books. As long as we keep her routine pretty much the same she wont have a meltdown. No matter what age your children are its always helpful to have a daily routine. Find one that works for your family.

If you have to work from home take advantage of naps and bedtime. I work when my daughter is napping and after she goes to bed. When she is awake I turn on music and cook and clean while she plays and dances. If I need to do an important task or make a call while she is awake I usually take her for a walk in the stroller or give her a healthy snack while I complete the task on my phone.

Be Productive

Rather than wasting time focusing on the problem, spend all your time and energy working on a solutions.

Plan out your day so you know exactly what needs to be done. After having my daughter I began choosing my outfit for the next day before going to bed to save me time the next day. Plan out your meals for the week to save money and prevent food going to waste.

You can call or video chat with friends and family to make sure they are ok, read or listen to self development books or podcasts, or Learn a new skill.

Whether you want to make extra money, aren’t being paid for your time off, are looking for a purpose outside of motherhood, or are afraid of losing your job now is the perfect time to start your own business. I recently took advantage of an amazing business opportunity. You can work from wifi and learn how to earn financial freedom so you can make the most of your life.

When you join my team I will show you a simple system that can help you earn the life of your dreams!

Bare Necessaties

Are you running low on necessities? make a list of everything you need go to your local stores once in the morning and once in the evening until you gather everything you need.

You can still find many things online. I like to order through Amazon Prime or Target drive up. When you order with Target’s new drive up option they will bring your items to your car for you so you don’t have to go in the store. The best part is that it’s free !

Tidy Up

Remember when you watched Tidying Up on Netflix but couldn’t find the time to declutter. Now that you have the time you can clean and organize your home and your car.

You can even earn some extra money selling items that you don’t use anymore on LetGo, Offer Up, Ebay, Facebook Market place, Poshmark, Or Craiglist.

Now is a great time to do some spring cleaning. If you don’t have all purpose cleaner or disinfectant spray you can make your own.

Have Fun

If you normally work outside the home than see this as a much needed reset. How often do you get to spend quality time with the kids. Get to know them! Play tag with them, teach them how to cook, do some fun DIY arts and crafts with them. They may drive you crazy if your indoors all day so go outside. Chase them around the yard or take them for a walk.

Self-Care

With the extra time at home you can start practicing self-care. Self-care doesn’t mean going to the spa. You can practice self-care in many different ways like meditating, learning yoga, trying a new skincare routine, drinking more water, educating yourself, or reading a new book.
